CPRE Oxford Green Belt Way

CPRE Oxford Green Belt Way

The Opening of the OGBW

13 July 2007

The CPRE Oxford Green Belt Way was duly opened by Boris Johnson in the presence of around 150 people, including a gaggle of excited children from Horspath School. As Mr Johnson slipped away into the woods on his way to his next engagement, a hundred of those present walked on to Horspath village hall. There the Oxford Green Belt Way cake was cut by Lord Lieutenant and CPRE Oxfordshire Patron, Hugo Brunner.

Mr Johnson said: "The green belt is one of the great achievements of post war Britain and we should stop the city of Oxford sprawling and engulfing wonderful bits of countryside like this one. Happy birthday CPRE and long may they fight to protect the green belt."
